7-a-side pitch size
Adult 7-a-side gets a bigger pitch than 5-a-side under the FA's small-sided laws, but the same goals and markings. Youth 7v7 has its own size. Both are here, in metres, yards and feet.

In short
- The FA recommends 50 to 60 metres long and 30 to 40 metres wide for adult 7-a-side.
- Goals are 3 to 5 metres wide and 1.2 to 2 metres high, the same as 5-a-side.
- The penalty area is a 6 metre semicircle, and the penalty mark is 6 metres from goal.
- Youth 7v7 (under-10s and under-11s from 2026-27): up to 55 by 37 metres, 12 by 6 foot goals and a size 3 ball.
Adult 7-a-side pitch dimensions
The FA's small-sided laws recommend, with the touchlines longer than the goal lines:
- Length: 50 to 60 metres (55 to 66 yards, 164 to 197 feet).
- Width: 30 to 40 metres (33 to 44 yards, 98 to 131 feet).
Goal size and markings
The same small-sided law sets the goals and markings for 5, 6 and 7-a-side, so a 7-a-side goal can be the same as a five-a-side one:
- Goals: 3 to 5 metres between the posts (about 10 to 16 feet), 1.2 to 2 metres high (about 4 to 6.5 feet).
- Penalty area: a semicircle of 6 metres radius from the middle of each goal line.
- Penalty mark: 6 metres from the middle of the goal.
- Centre circle: 3 metres radius. Lines: 8 centimetres wide.
- Corner arcs: 25 centimetres radius, only where no boards or walls surround the pitch.
Youth 7v7 pitch size
From the 2026-27 season, England Football has under-10s and under-11s playing 7v7 on matchday. Sizes are length by width, without run-off.
- Recommended: 55 by 37 metres (about 60 by 40 yards), which is also the maximum.
- Minimum: 46 by 27 metres (about 50 by 30 yards).
- Goals: 12 feet wide by 6 feet high (about 3.7 by 1.8 metres).
- Ball: size 3.
How much room each player gets
With fourteen players, the FA's adult range gives each one between 107 square metres (50 by 30) and 171 (60 by 40). The biggest five-a-side pitch gives ten players 175 each, more than the smallest 7-a-side pitch gives fourteen.
That's why 7-a-side suits groups that like to run: more space than most five-a-side, without the 290 square metres each that the FA's full-size 11-a-side pitch gives.
