How a week works

  1. 1Who's inSet up the game once. Everyone answers in, maybe or out from a link, and you see the numbers before you book the extra pitch.
  2. 2Fair teamsThe app splits whoever's in into two even sides from their ratings, keepers apart. Reshuffle if you fancy a change.
  3. 3PlaySame as ever. Enter the score when you get home.
  4. 4Everyone ratesEach player rates everyone else out of 10 and picks a player of the match. Only totals are ever shown, never who voted what.
  5. 5Cards moveRatings update, every player's card goes up or down, and you get player of the match and Team of the Week.

Ratings from the people you play with

Most 5-a-side apps balance teams on a rating someone typed in: your own guess about yourself, or the organiser’s guess about everyone. In Squadcard the squad decides. After every game each player rates the others out of 10, the totals become everyone’s rating, and the teams are picked from that. Nobody sees who voted what, so people are honest, and the teams get fairer every week.

Everything the group chat can’t do

  • A clear list of who’s in, instead of scrolling for thumbs-ups.
  • Teams picked in seconds, fairly, without the captain’s-pick arguments.
  • Player of the match and Team of the Week, every week.
  • Stats and a table, and seasons with awards (with Squad Pro).
  • Pitch money: who’s paid and who owes (with Squad Pro). The app never takes the money.

What it costs

Joining a squad, voting, your card and stats are always free. Starting a squad needs Squad Pro, with 7 days free on the yearly plan, and one Squad Pro covers the whole squad. It also brings every past season with awards, the pitch-money tracker, special cards, co-organisers and up to 40 players. See the prices.

Questions

Is Squadcard free?

Joining a squad, voting, your card and stats are always free. Starting a new squad needs Squad Pro (7 days free on the yearly plan), and one Squad Pro covers the whole squad. Squads started before 5 October 2026 stay free. Squad Pro also adds every past season with awards, the pitch-money tracker, special cards, co-organisers and up to 40 players.

Does everyone need to download an app?

No. Players join, say if they're in and vote from a link in the group chat, on any phone, Android included. The organiser can use the website or the iPhone app.

How are the ratings worked out?

Everyone starts from a rough level they pick themselves. After a few games, the ratings come from what the squad votes after each game, so they reflect how people actually play, not one person's guess.

Can it pick the teams?

Yes. It balances the two sides on everyone's rating, splits the keepers and keeps the sizes level. You can also try it without an account on the free team generator.

Does it work for 6-a-side, 7-a-side or 11-a-side?

Yes. Pick the size when you set up the squad: 5, 6, 7, 8 or 11-a-side, or your own.

Can players see who rated them low?

No. Individual votes are never shown to anyone, not even the organiser. Players only ever see totals.
