A Teamer alternative for your weekly game

Teamer, the team management app from the Pitchero Group, closed on Monday 5 October 2026. If your group is the same friends playing football every week, you might want something built just for that rather than a club platform. Squadcard is an app for football groups that play every week: who's in, fair teams, and ratings from your mates.

Teamer and Squadcard, side by side

We make Squadcard, so we’re biased. Everything about Teamer comes from Teamer’s own pages (listed at the bottom), checked on 7 October 2026.

Built for
Teamer: Teams and clubs, with members, events and payments in a mobile app or a web browser. Closed on 5 October 2026
Squadcard: One group of friends who play football every week, any size from 5-a-side to 11-a-side
Who's in
Teamer: Events for a team's members, managed by the team's admins
Squadcard: Players answer in, maybe or out from a link in the group chat; a waiting list when it's full
Money
Teamer: Payments through the platform, with the team's own payment provider account linked
Squadcard: Tracks who owes and who's paid; never takes or moves money, so no fees: players pay you as they already do
Price
Teamer: Had a paid Teamer Premium subscription; all were cancelled during September 2026
Squadcard: Free to join and play; starting a squad needs Squad Pro

Where Teamer sends its users

Teamer's own answer is Pitchero, which is part of the same group. Its shutdown pages offer Teamer organisers a migration deal, and describe Pitchero as covering members, teams, payments, content and communications, with club and team websites. If you run a club, with several teams, memberships and fees to collect online, that's the natural move. Squadcard isn't a club platform.

When Squadcard fits better

  • The same group every week: one squad, one weekly game, 5-a-side to 11-a-side.
  • Fair teams: picked from ratings the players give each other after every game, so they get fairer the longer you play.
  • A reason to come back: player of the match, Team of the Week and a player card that moves with your form, ready to share in the group chat.
  • Money without fees: Squadcard tracks who owes; your players pay you however they already do.
  • Nothing to install for players: they join from a link on any phone.

Moving your group over

Start a squad, set your usual day, time and pitch, and post the invite link in your group chat. Players tap it, pick roughly how good they are, and they’re in. There’s nothing to import: the ratings build up from your games. Want to try the team picking first? The free team generator works without an account.

Questions

When did Teamer close?

Teamer closed on Monday 5 October 2026, according to its own shutdown pages (linked at the bottom of this page).

Is Squadcard a good Teamer alternative?

For a group of friends who play football every week, yes: it's built for exactly that, with fair teams and ratings from the players. For running a whole club, with several teams, memberships and fees collected online, the platform Teamer points its users to is likely the better fit.

Can I move my Teamer team across?

Teamer's shutdown FAQs say there are no export tools to carry a team's events and members list to another system, and that team and user data is no longer accessible after the closure date. In Squadcard there's nothing to import anyway: start a squad, post the invite link in your group chat, and players add themselves.

Is Squadcard free?

Joining a squad, voting, your card and stats are always free. Starting a new squad needs Squad Pro (7 days free on the yearly plan), and one Squad Pro covers the whole squad. Squads started before 5 October 2026 stay free.

Does Squadcard take payments like Teamer did?

No. Teamer handled payments through the platform; Squadcard works out who owes what and keeps track of who's paid, but the money goes between you and your players as it does now. It never passes through Squadcard, so there are no fees.

Do my players need to download an app?

Not for Squadcard. Players join, say if they're in and vote from a link, on any phone, Android included. The organiser can use the website or the iPhone app.
