A Stack Team App alternative for your weekly game

Stack Team App is a free platform that gives a club, team or social group its own app and website. If your group is the same friends playing football every week, you might want something built just for that. Squadcard is an app for football groups that play every week: who's in, fair teams, and ratings from your mates.

Stack Team App and Squadcard, side by side

We make Squadcard, so we’re biased. Everything about Stack Team App comes from Stack Team App’s own pages (listed at the bottom), checked on 30 October 2026.

Built for
Stack Team App: Clubs, teams, leagues and social groups, each with its own customisable app and a website that updates with it
Squadcard: One group of friends who play football every week, any size from 5-a-side to 11-a-side
Who's in
Stack Team App: Schedules with RSVPs and attendance tracking, and availability for the dates a player can or can't make
Squadcard: Players answer in, maybe or out from a link in the group chat; a waiting list when it's full
Ratings
Stack Team App: Votes for best players, with opening and closing times and reminders to vote
Squadcard: After every game everyone rates everyone out of 10 and picks a player of the match; only totals are shown, and they move each player's card
Messages
Stack Team App: Chat rooms, forums, group and private messages, and news sent as push notifications
Squadcard: Keep your group chat: invites, teams and results are made to share there
Money
Stack Team App: Registrations, a store and event tickets, paid in the app through Stripe
Squadcard: Tracks who owes and who's paid; never takes or moves money, so no payment fees: players pay you as they already do
Price
Stack Team App: Free for clubs and members, paid for by in-app ads; paid plans remove them
Squadcard: Free to join and play; starting a squad needs Squad Pro

When Stack Team App is the better choice

If you run a club or a league and want it to have its own app and website, with news, live scores, registrations, a store, tickets and sponsor banners for players, coaches and parents, Stack Team App is built for that, and it's free for clubs and members. Squadcard isn't trying to be a club app.

When Squadcard fits better

  • The same group every week: one squad, one weekly game, 5-a-side to 11-a-side.
  • Fair teams: picked from ratings the players give each other after every game, so they get fairer the longer you play.
  • A reason to come back: player of the match, Team of the Week and a player card that moves with your form, ready to share in the group chat.
  • Money without payment fees: Squadcard tracks who owes; your players pay you however they already do.
  • Nothing to install for players: they join from a link on any phone.

Moving your group over

Start a squad, set your usual day, time and pitch, and post the invite link in your group chat. Players tap it, pick roughly how good they are, and they’re in. There’s nothing to import: the ratings build up from your games. Want to try the team picking first? The free team generator works without an account.

Questions

Is Squadcard a good Stack Team App alternative?

For a group of friends who play football every week, yes: it's built for exactly that, with fair teams and ratings from the players. For running a whole team, club or league, Stack Team App is likely the better fit.

Is Squadcard free?

Joining a squad, voting, your card and stats are always free. Starting a new squad needs Squad Pro (7 days free on the yearly plan), and one Squad Pro covers the whole squad. Squads started before 5 October 2026 stay free.

Does Squadcard take payments?

No. Squadcard works out who owes what and keeps track of who's paid, but the money goes between you and your players as it does now. It never passes through Squadcard, so there are no payment fees. Stack Team App takes payments in the app through Stripe.

Do my players need to download an app?

Not for Squadcard. Players join, say if they're in and vote from a link, on any phone, Android included. The organiser can use the website or the iPhone app.

Can I use Squadcard and Stack Team App together?

Yes. You can keep your team or club in Stack Team App and run your weekly kickabout in Squadcard. They don't connect to each other.
