In short
- Stack Team App is a platform for creating your club's or team's own app, with a website that updates with it.
- It's free for clubs and members; its pages say development is paid for mainly by in-app advertising.
- Members can pay a yearly fee to remove ads on their own phone, and admins can buy a plan that removes them for everyone.
- Clubs use it for news, events with RSVPs, chat, live scores, registrations, a store and tickets.
- Payments go through Stripe, and its help centre says Stack Team App never stores card details.
What Stack Team App does
Each club or team gets its own app inside Stack Team App, and turns on the features it wants:
- News and notifications: posts reach members as push notifications, or by email for members without a smartphone.
- Events and schedules: a calendar with RSVPs, attendance tracking and duty rosters, plus availability for the dates a player can't make.
- Chat: chat rooms, forums, group messages and private messages, with photos and videos.
- Teams and players: team announcements for upcoming games, and player profiles with photos and bios.
- Live scores and standings: linked from the league's own feed, or entered by members as games happen.
- Money: registration forms, a store for fees and merchandise, event tickets and fundraising, paid in the app.
- Also: surveys, votes for best players, documents and newsletters, digital membership cards and sponsor banners.
Is Stack Team App free?
Yes for clubs and members: its help centre says Stack Team App is free for all clubs and members, with ongoing development paid for primarily through in-app advertising, and creating an app is free. There are two paid options, both about the ads.
- For one member: a yearly subscription bought in the app (Settings, then Advertising) removes ads on that phone only. Ads still show on the website.
- For the whole club: admins can buy an Ad Banners plan from the website dashboard, monthly or yearly with a free trial, priced by the number of members. It removes ads for everyone and lets the club show its own adverts, such as sponsors, instead.
How Stack Team App works, step by step
- An admin creates the club's app at teamapp.com or in the Stack Team App app, and picks a logo, colours and the features to switch on.
- The admin sets up access groups, such as players, parents, coaches and committee, to choose who sees what.
- Members download Stack Team App from the App Store or Google Play, search for the team and ask to join; an admin approves them. Members can also be invited by email or imported in bulk.
- Admins post news, events, photos and team selections from the app or the website dashboard, and members get them as notifications.
Is Stack Team App safe for payments?
Its help centre says every payment, for merchandise, registrations, events or donations, is processed by Stripe, and that Stack Team App never stores card details.
Who Stack Team App suits, and what else there is
Stack Team App is built for clubs, leagues, schools and associations that want their own branded app and website: news, live scores, registrations, a store and sponsors, for players, coaches and parents. For that it does a lot for free, if you're happy with the ads. We compare it with Squadcard on the Stack Team App alternative page, and other club apps in the best football team management apps and what is Spond?.
For one group of friends playing every week, Squadcard is narrower and does different things: players say in or out from a link with no download, fair teams come from ratings everyone gives after each game, and it tracks who owes for the pitch without taking or moving money, so there are no payment fees.
