Spond’s listingJust need teams for tonight?
No app needed. Our free team generator splits whoever’s playing into two fair sides from a rough level for each player, keepers apart. TeamShuffle (free, in the browser) and Dobello (iPhone, a one-time purchase after a free trial) do the same job.
Questions
What's the best app for organising 5-a-side?
It depends on what you need. For the same group every week with fair teams and ratings, Squadcard (we make it). For leagues with standings, Foot8. For payments and sign-ups in the app, Five. For a whole club with juniors and fees, Spond.
Is there a free 5-a-side app?
Yes. Joining, voting and your card are free on Squadcard (starting a squad needs Squad Pro, with 7 days free), and Foot8, Who's Game, Squadius and Spond describe themselves as free. Some have paid extras.
Which app picks fair teams?
Squadcard, Foot8, Who's Game, Squadius and Five all balance teams in some way. They differ in what they balance on: Squadcard uses ratings the squad votes on after every game, others use stats, skill ratings or player preferences. If you only need teams for tonight, a free team generator does it without an app.
Do all the players need to download the app?
Not with Squadcard: players join, say if they're in and vote from a link. Check each app's listing for the others.
