11-a-side team generator
Twenty-two players and two fair sides for a full-size game: a friendly, a training match or the summer one-off when everyone turns up. Paste the list, set the levels, tick the keepers. Free, no sign-up.
Balance positions, not just totals
With eleven a side, two even totals can still mean one team has all the defenders. Split the keepers with GK, and if the same side keeps coming out with all the centre-backs, tap Reshuffle for another fair split.
Up to 30 players with subs
The generator takes up to 30 names, so a full squad with subs on each side fits. With 23 to 30 players, the extra players are split as evenly as the numbers allow, with the side with fewer getting the slightly stronger ones.
Mixed levels on one pitch
Full-size friendlies often mix regulars with people who haven't played in years. Be honest with the levels: "here for the fun" is a real setting, and it keeps the game good for everyone.
Fair every week
The generator is only as fair as the levels you pick. In Squadcard, everyone rates everyone else after each game, so the ratings come from the people who were there and the teams get fairer on their own. Plus player cards that move with your form, a player of the match and a Team of the Week.
Questions
How many players do you need for 11-a-side?
Twenty-two for a full game: a keeper and ten outfield players on each side. Most friendlies have a few subs too.
Can it handle more than 22?
Yes, up to 30 names. The extra players are split as evenly as possible and can come on as subs.
We only have 18 or 20. What now?
Play 9 or 10 a side. The generator splits whatever you have into two fair teams; the 8-a-side and 7-a-side pages have tips for smaller numbers.
How do I stop guessing how good everyone is?
Squadcard does it for you: after each game everyone rates everyone else out of 10, and the app picks the teams from those ratings. Only totals are ever shown.
