Players: joining and playing

Someone in your group runs the squad and sent you a link. Everything you do happens from that link, on any phone, with nothing to install.

Joining

Tap the invite link in your group chat. You'll be asked for:

  • Your name: what your mates call you. It goes on your card.
  • Usual position and stronger foot.
  • A flag for your card, if you want one. You can change it later.
  • How good you honestly are. This sets your first card; after a few games your squad's votes take over.
  • The year you were born. Squadcard is for people aged 13 and over, and only the year is kept.

Already have a card?

If you're signed in and already play in another squad, you join with the card you have: the same name, position, flag and photo. You start at your current rating, and from then on each squad's votes move your rating in that squad. You can change your name or position in the new squad afterwards.

Saying you're in

The squad page shows the next game: when, where, and what your share of the pitch is likely to be. Answer "Are you playing?" and you're on the list. If plans change, come back and choose "Can't make it".

If the game is full you go on the waitlist, and you move up automatically when someone drops out. You can add every game to your phone's calendar from the same page.

Match day

When the organiser has picked the teams, "See the teams" shows both sides. Turned up without saying you were in? The organiser can add you on the day.

Voting after the game

When the organiser enters the score, a vote link goes in the group chat. Open it on the phone you joined with, or sign in. It takes about 30 seconds:

  • Give everyone else who played a score from 1 to 10. You can't rate yourself.
  • Pick your player of the match.
  • Add a tag or two if you like: Rapid, Clinical, Playmaker, Magician, Wall, Engine.
  • You can change your vote until voting closes.

The result

The player of the match is revealed when voting closes, along with the Team of the Week and how everyone's card moved. Nobody ever sees who gave what: only the totals. Read more in how ratings and cards work.

Your card and your details

Your card is on the squad page. You can share it, save it for Stories and add your photo. Under "You and your data" you can change your photo, download your data, leave the squad or delete your data. While you wait for the next game, there are daily minigames with a board for your squad.

Questions

Do I need to download anything?

No. Joining, saying you're in, voting and your card all work from the link in a browser, on any phone.

The vote link says it doesn't know who I am.

Open it on the phone you joined the squad with. If you've changed phone, sign in and vote from there.

Can anyone see how I voted?

No. Not your squad-mates and not the organiser. Only totals are ever shown.

I didn't play this week. Can I vote?

No. Only the players in a match rate it.

Can I be in more than one squad?

Yes. A Tuesday game and a Sunday game are two squads, each with its own ratings from the people you play with there.

How do I leave a squad?

On the squad page, open "You and your data" and choose "Leave the squad". Your past games stay in the squad's history under your name; to remove your name too, delete your data instead.

Is Squadcard free?

Joining a squad, voting, your card and stats are always free. Starting a new squad needs Squad Pro (7 days free on the yearly plan), and one Squad Pro covers the whole squad. Squads started before 5 October 2026 stay free.
