Drag the players and the ball. Orange attacks up the pitch.

How many a side?

Using the board

  • Pick the size: each team starts in that size's most common formation, orange attacking up the pitch.
  • Drag any player, or the ball, with a finger or the mouse. GK is each team's keeper.
  • Hide the other team to show just your shape, or keep them on to show who marks who.
  • Share the picture to the group chat, or download it.

Three things worth drawing before a game

For a starting shape with names, the lineup builder makes a clean picture of the team; the 5-a-side and 7-a-side formation pages explain each shape. More ideas are in 5-a-side tips.

  • Your shape without the ball: where everyone goes when you lose it. Most goals in small-sided football come from a team caught out of shape.
  • Who stays back: one player, every attack, whoever it is.
  • Restarts: where people stand for a corner or a kick-in, so nobody's guessing.

Same group every week?

Tactics work best when the teams are even. Squadcard picks two fair teams every week from the ratings the players give each other after each game.
