How to pick a name that lasts
The best names survive being read out by a referee, printed on a league table and shouted across a car park. A few rules that save regret:
- Say it out loud: if it needs explaining, it isn't the one.
- Check the league's rules: plenty of leagues turn down rude names, and you don't want to redo the form.
- Keep it short: league tables and group chats cut long names off.
- Make it yours: an in-joke, your street or the pub you end up in beats a name ten other teams have.
- Put it to a vote: three options in the group chat, most thumbs wins.
Name sorted. Now the rest
A name is the easy part of running a team. If you're playing in a small league or a one-day tournament, the fixture generator makes the schedule and the league table generator keeps the standings. For the starting five, there's a lineup builder.
And if it's the same group of friends every week, Squadcard handles who's in, picks fair teams and lets everyone rate everyone after the game.

Is the team name generator free?
Yes. No sign-up and nothing to install. Tap as many times as you like.
What makes a good 5-a-side team name?
Short, easy to say and a bit of fun: a pun, an in-joke or something about how you play. If the whole team laughs and the league will accept it, that's the one.
Can I use one of these names for my team?
Yes, help yourself. Team names aren't ours to give or keep; just check your league allows it and that no other team in your league already has it.
How do the names from my own word work?
Type a word, like your town, your pub or the day you play, and you get it in the styles football clubs use: Wanderers, Athletic, Rovers, Inter, Real, Dynamo and more.
Are the names suitable for a kids' team or a work league?
The kids' and work lists are written for exactly that, and none of the lists has rude names. Some pun names are jokes about famous players, so use your judgement for a school team.
